Every now + then I get a day where things don’t go as well as I’d like them to or we just don’t feel like ourselves. We’ve all had them – a bad day 😥 I tend to get quite stressed out + anxious if I’m having a bad day as I’m sure most people do, but recently I’ve started to be more proactive on a bad day to (try to) help offset the negative + bring some more positivity back into the day. I thought I’d write some of them down here in the hopes that they might help someone else out 😊 we can all use a bit of help + support on a bad day !
•1 Buy yourself some flowers 💐 – if you like flowers that is, I love them + a fresh bunch sitting pretty on my dressing table always cheers me right up
•2 Go for a walk 🚶🏼 – could be by yourself or drag a friend along with you, I always find that some fresh air + a bit of movement can help blast away the stagnat feeling of a bad day + leave you feeling refeshed as can…
•3 Go to the gym 💪🏼 – I find a work out always improves my mood. Those happy little endorphins do their job well + even though I always end up looking like a sweaty tomato (💦🍅 < actual image of me post workout) I always feel a sense of accomplishment + pride. Even if I’ve not done a very long workout the fact that I’ve dragged myself there always perks me up
•4 Hide away 🙈 – sometimes a bad day can only be fixed by a good old Netflix session in bed, complete with cosy blankets, snacks + a good film, there’s nothing wrong with hibernating once in a while 🐻
•5 Call, text, whatsapp someone 📞 – after all that’s what friends are for! There are a good number of people in my contact list who I know I can contact when I’m having a bad day. They’ll listen to me vent + make me laugh. Just don’t forget to be there for them too when they need you. 🙇🏼
•6 Dance 💃🏼 – works every time. Throw on some tunes + shake that booty, singing along at the same time works too 😉
•7 Bath/shower 🛀🏼 – a nice hot, cleansing bath/shower does wonders! I love using LUSH products in my baths, they make me feel indulged + pampered. There’s nothing quite like feeling all fresh + relaxed to pick up your mood
•8 Get organised 📚 – this might seem like something you can’t deal with facing one a bad day but I find it helps me focus on making the next day better. With a little bit of planning/organisation you can really feel like you’re getting things done or at least preparing to. I like to do this on days I feel particularly overwhelmed or stressed out. I’m a huge fan of to do lists (even if I rarely complete them 🙊) + I find they really help me prioritise what I have to do, calming me + helping me relax
•9 Cheeky bit of retail therapy 👗👖- okok so I don’t recommend this one everytime you have a bad day (it can have quite an effect on the bank account 💷) but if I am having a seriously bad bad day then I do often find myself reaching for online shopping or I’ll take a little walk to the shops on my lunch break. The thrill of owning a pair of shoes 👠 I’ve lusted after or a gorgeous lipstick 💄 can often bring my mood up. I feel like a kid at Christmas as I excitedly gaze at my new purchases.
•10 Inhale, exhale + remember – this will pass ❤️
