wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow

One of my new years resolutions when 2017 came around was that I wanted to travel more. Well we’re nearing the end of 2017 and I’m so happy that for once I actually feel like I have accomplished a resolution! I always write a whole list of new years resolutions but the motivation to work on them always seems to disappear in the second week of January as I’m sure it does for pretty much everyone else (if you actually manage to stick to your new years res’ please drop me a line and tell me how!)

At the time of writing this I’ve managed to go on 6 trips so far this year and I have a couple more in the pipeline! This is far from a boastful post about living a jet setter lifestyle, I’m just so proud of myself for getting out there and seeing the world and the beauty it has to offer. Not all of the trips have been to fancy exotic places in fact most have been close to home but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one so so much. Although I feel like if I never see an airport again it’ll be too soon (delays right!) I’m so proud of the adventures I’ve had and after a little break from airports and long car rides I’m already thinking of some more trips to plan for next year!

I feel so lucky that I’ve had the opportunity to do so many fab things this year and it’ll be interesting to see if I can stick to another resolution for 2018 because we all know i’ll be writing them!

🍩 worry 🐝 happy

Every now + then I get a day where things don’t go as well as I’d like them to or we just don’t feel like ourselves. We’ve all had them – a bad day πŸ˜₯ I tend to get quite stressed out + anxious if I’m having a bad day as I’m sure most people do, but recently I’ve started to be more proactive on a bad day to (try to) help offset the negative + bring some more positivity back into the day. I thought I’d write some of them down here in the hopes that they might help someone else out 😊 we can all use a bit of help + support on a bad day !

β€’1 Buy yourself some flowers πŸ’ – if you like flowers that is, I love them + a fresh bunch sitting pretty on my dressing table always cheers me right up

β€’2 Go for a walk 🚢🏼 – could be by yourself or drag a friend along with you, I always find that some fresh air + a bit of movement can help blast away the stagnat feeling of a bad day + leave you feeling refeshed as can…

β€’3 Go to the gym πŸ’ͺ🏼 – I find a work out always improves my mood. Those happy little endorphins do their job well + even though I always end up looking like a sweaty tomato (πŸ’¦πŸ… < actual image of me post workout) I always feel a sense of accomplishment + pride. Even if I’ve not done a very long workout the fact that I’ve dragged myself there always perks me up

β€’4 Hide away πŸ™ˆ – sometimes a bad day can only be fixed by a good old Netflix session in bed, complete with cosy blankets, snacks + a good film, there’s nothing wrong with hibernating once in a while 🐻

β€’5 Call, text, whatsapp someone πŸ“ž – after all that’s what friends are for! There are a good number of people in my contact list who I know I can contact when I’m having a bad day. They’ll listen to me vent + make me laugh. Just don’t forget to be there for them too when they need you. πŸ™‡πŸΌ

β€’6 Dance πŸ’ƒπŸΌ – works every time. Throw on some tunes + shake that booty, singing along at the same time works too πŸ˜‰

β€’7 Bath/shower πŸ›€πŸΌ –  a nice hot, cleansing bath/shower does wonders! I love using LUSH products in my baths, they make me feel indulged + pampered. There’s nothing quite like feeling all fresh + relaxed to pick up your mood

β€’8 Get organised πŸ“š – this might seem like something you can’t deal with facing one a bad day but I find it helps me focus on making the next day better. With a little bit of planning/organisation you can really feel like you’re getting things done or at least preparing to. I like to do this on days I feel particularly overwhelmed or stressed out. I’m a huge fan of to do lists (even if I rarely complete them πŸ™Š) + I find they really help me prioritise what I have to do, calming me + helping me relax

β€’9 Cheeky bit of retail therapy πŸ‘—πŸ‘–- okok so I don’t recommend this one everytime you have a bad day (it can have quite an effect on the bank account πŸ’·) but if I am having a seriously bad bad day then I do often find myself reaching for online shopping or I’ll take a little walk to the shops on my lunch break. The thrill of owning a pair of shoes πŸ‘  I’ve lusted after or a gorgeous lipstick πŸ’„ can often bring my mood up. I feel like a kid at Christmas as I excitedly gaze at my new purchases.

β€’10 Inhale, exhale + remember – this will pass ❀️

Hope no one is having a bad day! But if you are I hope one of these helps you shake those blues !

here come the girls πŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸŽŠ

So yesterday (8th March) was International Woman’s day πŸ™‹πŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏼. Originally an event that focused on the economical, political + social achievements (thanks Wikipedia) the day is now one that celebrates a general love of women the same way Valentine’s Day celebrates love. Well who doesn’t need a day of celebration + love ?! My social media outlets were awash with well wishing, images + quotes all celebrating + sharing the love. We definitely need more love in our society these days. This years day had the theme of Gender Equality something we’ve been hearing about quite frequently in the news these days – especially in regards to the Hollywood Gender Pay Gap. I’m a huge supporter of these women in the film industry taking a stand + fighting for their equality. I think the gap that stands between men + women, no matter the profession, is so backwards + in a society that’s supposed to be more open minded + forward thinking it’s sickening to think that a person’s pay is affected simply because they were born a girl. A celebration of strong + powerful women was just what the doctor ordered + I think yesterday would have had a profound affect on some + the way they think of women. Women have struggled through adversity + discrimination to reach where we are today + it was awe inspiring to see that being celebrated. I think society still has a long way to go in its treatment of women but yesterday made me think there is hope for us yet.

I consider myself a strong women, although admittedly I still have a lot to learn. I was ashamed of myself for not knowing it was IWD but have promised myself to be more aware next year!

I enjoyed celebrating myself + all the strong, powerful + beautiful women I have in my life who constantly support me.

A happy international woman’s day to you all !🎈
